Scissor Sisters

Super Charged and Super Rocking!

What can I say about the Scissor Sister’s concert but that it was one of the best, concert I have attended so far! It started with an awesome opening act, Small Sins, from toronto, who managed to rock the house and really warmed us up. When they left the stage, we were all primed and ready for the Scissor Sister to come up... but of course, as with usual set change, there will be an interval of at least 45 minutes before the main act starts.

However this time, they have a DJ, DJ Sammy Jo playing hi-energy music that got the crowd dancing, hence keeping the energy going. The crowd is a mixture of young and old, straight and gay, man and woman, man in drag with hair higher than Rupaul’s...

When the band finally came on stage, the crowd was all jazzed up by the Dj and ready to go. It was a homecoming for 2 of the members, Ana Matronic and Baby Daddy. I think the reason why there is so many drag queens in the concert is because Ana used to preform at TrannyShack.

All in all, throughout the almost 2 hours concert, the band played all of the hits from the first album as well as songs from the new album, Ta Dah! The music played that night showed that the band was tight and that they played well together. Ana and Jake’s banter with the audience was infectious and we all had a great time.

The audience was all standing and dancing in their assigned seats, even the pregnant woman sitting next to me was dancing to certain songs. Some of the highlights of the night was hearing them sing “Filthy, Gorgeous”, “Take your Mama”, “I can’t Decide” and “I don’t feel like dancing”.

The concert was well put together, the band was tight, and the energy in the Warfield was just electrifying.. so much so that the entire balcony shook - i was actually scared for a moment that the balcony might not hold our weight and collapse.

My partner does not know the songs of Scissor Sisters very well but he had a great time too. He commented that the energy was as high as the drag queen’s hair!. So all in all, we had a lot of fun that night!
